Detecting PFAS is the First Step to Removing Them — From Water, Soil, and Packaging
Understanding where PFAS are hiding is essential to stopping their spread.
PureTrace Labs is advancing next-generation detection to make that possible.
Who Can Benefit From PureTrace Lab’s Technology
Homeowners & Home Inspectors
Fast PFAS screening helps identify risks early—enabling quick action to protect families and property.
Municipalities & Environmental Groups
High-throughput triage allows mapping of contamination hotspots and guides confirmatory lab testing—supporting faster public response.
Industry & Packaging Teams
Rapid R&D and QA screening enables safer product innovation and faster go-to-market decisions before formal compliance testing.

Developed by Dr. Hao Chen at NJIT, an R1 research university, which is at the forefront of PFAS research. PureTrace uses a novel implementation of Paper Spray MS (PS-MS) and Desalting Paper Spray MS (DPS-MS) for rapid PFAS screening across water, soil, and packaging.
- Rapid Results: Current testing methodologies require labor-intensive sample preparation, and as a result, labs can take up to 21 days for results. PureTrace Labs can test in under 3 minutes, providing you with results in as little as 48 hours.
- Broad screening: Detects the presence of thousands of PFAS, not just a short target list.
- Parts-per-trillion screening capability: One of the most sensitive PFAS tests on the market.
- Lower cost per screen: Minimal sample prep means fewer consumables and less labor.
- Small samples, simple collection: A few drops of water, milligrams of soil, or small packaging cutouts.
